Whatever the time of day Dillon had to be the first out into the garden and he made sure he pushed to the front ahead of anyone else that was staying so he could be certain of being ahead when it was time to charge about outside! He also loved to sit on the sofa in the evening and watch TV with us, but sometimes all the excitement just became too much and like any youngster he would literally conk out and have a very well deserved nap wherever he happened to be at the time, so he could wake up with his batteries fully re-charged and continue with his high octane activities!
My oldest customer was a golden and white Jack Russell called Honey. Honey was 15 years old and her eyesight wasn’t very good and she couldn’t hear very well either, but she could still trot about the garden and follow me around the house, even if she needed a guiding hand now and again to find her way. I found a nice quiet area for Honey to rest where she wouldn’t be bothered by over boisterous younger dogs. Despite this I was surprised to find that she seemed to get a new lease of life while she was staying here and that she really enjoyed having the company of the other dogs, so much so that by the time she went home she seemed to have shed a few years off of her great age! My other house guest Dillon was at the other end of the scale. He was an 8 month old white male Cockerpoo with blonde ears. Cheeky and full of fun Dillon wanted to be involved in everything that was going on and always made sure he was in the centre of anything that was happening. Dillon loved going for his walks and as soon as he saw his bright blue harness and lead he would push himself into it eagerly squeaking with excitement. Sometimes he would wriggle so much I couldn’t get his harness done up and it would take me twice as long to click the catch shut. Once we set off he was always out in front straining to go faster, trotting along with a big smile on his face.
