I had started to voice my idea of bringing him back to the UK and although my husband favoured finding Genghis a home in Cyprus he conceded that we could not just abandon him to an uncertain fate so I managed to get him to agree that if we could not find a suitable home then we would bring Genghis back.
During our numerous visits to the vets we had met a couple of English people who had also found strays they were taking back to the UK, so we chatted about all the procedures and requirements involved in this process and had a good idea of what we were letting ourselves in for.
It was around this time that an English veterinary nurse working at the vets asked me if I had managed to find Genghis a home or if I had had any success finding him a boarding kennels to which I replied no. She asked me if I had tried K9 Country Kennels at Kaplica and again I said no as I had not been given their details and didn't even know they existed! The nurse passed me one of K9’s cards with a phone number and suggested I give Suzan a ring at the kennels. She told me that they were larger than a couple of the other places I had tried and that when she had spoken to Suzan only the other day they still had vacancies. I thanked her for her help and as soon as I got back to the car I dialed the number on the card and held my breath…
