The orthopedic surgeon said that the tendons in Harry’s right leg had totally given way and that fusing his wrist would be the best option to help him walk better. As for his left leg they would have to investigate the bony deformity to see what was behind it and then make a decision as to how to treat it. The local vet also suggested that if I didn’t want to do a surgical intervention I could try an external support for Harry’s tendons.
The vet quoted me a reasonable price for the procedure and of course we would have to tackle one of Harry’s legs first and let it heal before starting to treat the other leg.
Armed with this information I asked my vet if he would get me a referral to Noel Fitzpatrick’s surgery so I could get a second opinion. Noel is one of my heroes. I think it is amazing how inventive he is with treatments and surgery and how he manages to successfully treat cases which look utterly hopeless. There was just a chance that Noel might have an innovative way of helping Harry that other surgeons didn’t know about.
My vet got in touch with Fitzpatrick Referrals and not long after I got an email inviting me for an appointment with Noel. When I spoke to Noel’s secretary to book the appointment, she asked about Harry’s story and then mentioned that they were currently filming another series of the Super Vet and asked if I would have any objections to Harry being filmed and featuring in an episode, should he end up being treated by Noel. I thought that would be an interesting experience so agreed that the film crew could film him during his visit to the surgery.
