At the same time that I was busy looking after my first trans Atlantic customer, I had another first for Dogs at Home. While I was aware that there were several popular poodle cross breeds out there and had had Cockerpoos, Cavapoos and Labradoodles to stay I had not yet heard about another less well known variety of poodle cross the Goldendoodle, which as the name suggests is a cross between a poodle and a Golden Retriever. I was introduced to Teddy who was a very handsome example of this breed. He looked like a much larger version of Lola and was a dead ringer for her in every way. Goldendoodles do seem to be relatively rare as so far to date I have only had two stay at my house and I have not encountered any while out and about.
I had had a couple of small guests among my clients but my next visitor was the smallest by far. Brumby was a mixed breed but mainly Chihuahua and his coat was described as red although in reality he was more of a bright orange colour. He was also my furthest traveled customer to date as he had come over from the USA with his new mum who worked for the US army. She had rescued Brumby from a dog pound in the States where he went by the name of Taco but on coming to his new home he had also acquired a new name. Brumby was very small and cute and as he felt the cold quite keenly he had a variety of little woolen coats to keep him warm. He didn’t like to walk very far and after a very short turn around the garden he would plant himself and start wining which meant he wanted to be picked up and carried back inside. He was used to sleeping wrapped in his little blanket on his bed but had to be told firmly that it was bed time as he was an exuberant little chap who liked to be around people all the time so he wasn’t keen on retiring at the end of the evening.
