Originally Suzan and Nigel were supposed to be flying to Izmir, which was a lot closer to where Helen and Paul of 4 Paws Pet Transport would be collecting the other dogs from, before driving them all to the UK. However with all the Corona virus restrictions on air travel, many flights in and out of Ercan had been cancelled, as the authorities could only cope with 2 flights a day, due to the need to quarantine all new arrivals for 14 days in government approved accommodation. Unfortunately, Suzan and Nigel’s Izmir flight had been a casualty of this policy and they were forced to travel to Istanbul and arrange for Helen and Paul to travel there to meet them and pick Meghan, Harry and Lilly up.
Thankfully the flight went to plan and Meghan, Harry and Lilly arrived safe and sound on Turkish soil. Suzan and Nigel had to wait a while for the dogs to be unloaded. While they were waiting a rather nice porter came over and offered to take the dog’s crates to Helen and Paul’s vehicle, however on Helen’s advice Suzan refused his help as it turns out this would have worked out rather expensive!
Meghan, Harry and Lilly finally appeared and once all the paperwork formalities had been dealt with Suzan and Nigel wheeled their crates outside where they met up with Helen and Paul. Then it was time for Suzan and Nigel to say an emotional goodbye to their furry charges before having to join a very long queue to check in for their flight home. Suzan was very sad to leave her babies, but at least she had the consolation of knowing that they were going on to new adventures and exciting lives in the UK with their new families.
Helen and Paul loaded their new passengers on to their luxurious air conditioned van. Each dog had their own special built in compartment where they could travel safely and be in complete comfort, not affected by the very hot temperatures of the Turkish summer. Then the 4 Paws Pet Transport van set off back towards Izmir where Helen and Paul were due to collect several more rescue dogs from a couple of charities that specialise in re-homing dogs to the UK. Meghan, Harry and Lilly had completed stage one of their journey and had now set off on stage two.
