Harry was a brown 1 ½ year old Cocker Spaniel who was very endearing. Very lethargic, Harry was like a rag doll and flopped about as if the very idea of having to use his legs was just too exhausting! Notwithstanding his very laid back attitude to life, he seemed to get about without any difficulty and would soldier on when we went for a walk scrambling over or ducking under any logs or branches we might find in our way while going through the woods.
Meg on the other hand was a live wire, athletic and full of energy who loved to run and run. She was obsessed with birds and would look up at the sky trying to spot them flying by and then gallop about barking if she saw any to give chase to. Another item she loved to chase were trains and if she saw one going by in the far distance she would gallop towards it, but thankfully return quite quickly as the train would disappear long before she had a chance of crossing the 3 big fields between her and her prey. Being a 2 year old Border Collie, she was very intelligent and needed a lot of physical activity coupled with plenty of mental stimulation.
Meg and Harry were the best of friends despite their totally different personalities and physical abilities. I don’t know how they had ended up at the RSPCA but their stories had had a happy ending as they had been adopted by a nice couple who cared for them and looked after their every need, so they had a second chance at life in their forever home.
