Whenever he goes to the vet, Harry is always greeted enthusiastically by the receptionists and one lady in particular says he is her favorite patient. His lovely big expressive round eyes and copious amounts of loose skin falling in folds around his face and neck make him very appealing and it is very difficult to resist him.
After one such visit to the vet we stopped by the local tyre garage as I had a slow puncture and needed to get a new tyre. I thought I would have to order the tyre first and go back the following day to have it fitted, so the fact that Harry was settled in the back of the car didn’t really matter. However it turned out that the garage actually had the tyre in stock, so I opted to have it fitted there and then to save time having to go back the next day. This meant that Harry had to disembark from his conveyance so the mechanic could access the wheel nut to take the tyre off.
As I had Harry with me I decided to sit outside the waiting room on one of the plastic garden chairs which had been thoughtfully placed in the garden for those wishing to sit outdoors and wait for their car to be ready and Harry sat on the ground at my feet. It wasn’t long before another customer made a big fuss of Harry and asked me about him and I was recounting Harry’s history.
Next the garage owner spied Harry as we were having a little walk about and got chatting to me about him and I filled him in on Harry’s disability issues. The garage owner had dogs himself and so once again Harry had made a conquest and was made a big fuss of by his admirer. When the time came to pay the bill, I asked the garage owner if it was OK for Harry to come inside the reception area and he said of course it was! So Harry came inside with me to pay our bill and then we returned to the car which was standing ready for us, complete with its new tyre.
