As seems to happen quite often I have very different guests staying with me at the same time and on this occasion I also had a young Hungarian Vizsla called Gus. Gus was very similar to Genghis except that his colouring was a solid burnished gold which glinted a lovely red colour in the sun. At that time you didn’t see many Vizslas around but like many things, dog breeds seem to go in and out of fashion and now I have several Viszler customers on a regular basis.
Gus was brilliant off lead and had very good recall so I was able to let him run free in the fields without any worry that he might take off after a bird or rabbit and then get lost. He was also very affectionate and loved nothing more than to have a cuddle on the sofa in the evenings. Gus has matured and naturally he has also quietened down as he has got older but he remains a lovely dog with an excellent temperament and a pleasure to look after.
